How Manchester United Won The Premier League

Manchester United won the premier league title with a convincing 3-0 win over Aston Villa which confirmed Manchester United as champions. In this post i will be looking at how Manchester United won the title in the style they did and whether as people say that the signing of Robin Van Persie was crucial for Manchester United and as said it decided the title before it even began. I think that there was more to it than the signing of Robin Van Persie signing and that while it was an important factor there were other factors which contributed to Manchester United winning the title.

Gelling of the team
When it comes to a team there ability to gel and work together is very important because if the team work well together it can lead to a good combination within the team and the players and a good unity within the squad. While if you look at Manchester City's squad this season this wasnt the case and during the season you could see from the way that they performed that they were playing as individuals and not as a team. And as was the case with Manchester City the players which normally would have gelled together was was the case last season didnt as they rarely performed for example David Silva been ineffective compared to last season. This can also be traced back to further seasons because if you at City's squad and the incredible amount of money which they have spent on players compared to that of Manchester United you can see that massive amount that City's squad has changed compared to Manchester United's. From the images below we can see that there has been massive changes for Manchester City compared to Manchester United in which there have only been a few minor but effective changes for example  Robin Van Persie replacing Dimitar Berbatov. While for Manchester City it has been near enough the polar opposite as only 4 players from the main starting XI in 2009 still play today or at least have a role in the city squad so it wouldn't allow for the team to gel much overall while there is more of a chance under Manchester United as was proven this season.

Managerial Styles

The difference in managerial styles between Sir Alex Ferguson and Roberto Mancini as has always been something for me which i thought had a massive impact when it came to the title and while ive never been much of a fan of Roberto Mancini it has been proven this season more than any why that has been the case. Whenever Roberto Mancini does a post match interview he always seems to speak in a tone which that of distant like the feeling that he doesn't want to be there its nothing against the man in any way its just if you imagine you were in a situation like that in the dressing room where you were losing for example the Manchester City match against Southampton in which they were losing 2-1 come half time and were poor throught the first half and city would have needed some motivation. In my opinion if i was a city player i don't think that Mancini would really be able to motivate me with his stance and the way he talk it wouldn't be able to motivate me. While if it was Sir Alex Ferguson in that situation you would now what he would do and how he would motivate you he would be giving the players a right bollocking telling them what they've done wrong giving them the old hairdryer in order to motivate them and this is something which i don't think Mancini would be able to do and lacks the managerial styles to do this in my opinion  Also the two styles in which both managers play is also a deciding factor as the way in which both managers reacted towards a game and how much influence they had one the game for example with substitutions Roberto Mancini was always the one who was often to make the odd substitution now and then when it came to a crucial point in the game for example often bringing on a defender when they were in a losing position.

City's Poor Season?

Of course one of the major factors in how Manchester United won the title was how poor city have played last season in cummilation with errors from the supposed best goalkeeper in England Joe Hart, a lack of scoring from city's strikers and overall range of defeats this has been a poor season for city and has meant that it has been seen to be quite an easy ride for Manchester United as there was no real considerable challenge from any other of their title rivals so it was seen to be an easy ride for united.

The Sale of Mario Balotelli

Of course a turning point of vital importance in the title race came during the January transfer window in which Mario Balotelli was sold to AC Milian and since then Mario has been prolific for Miian scoring 9 goals this season compared to a total of 1 for Manchester City and maybe there are other factors towards why Mario is playing this well but this is surely a factor in why the title was lost as city would have need a player like Mario in there squad this season and while he was seen as a controversial character at times his class was undeniably and for city to lose a play of his quality the lose of a player like him was clear for people to see.

City's Poor Signings

"You Signed Jack Rodwell, We signed Van Persie", this was something which was heard and written by United fans all over after city's infamous "You signed Phill Jones, We Signed Kun Aguero" chant but city's signings in the summer were seen to be the catalyst in my mind for city's poor season and loss of the title. This may have been due to an over arrogance on city's part in the fact that they believed that they had already won the title so there was no need to spend much more money coppled with Mancini's mad belief that he has one of the best squads in the Premier League. I think that the poor signings of Jack Rodwell and Scott Sinclar in the summer haven't provided much towards the Manchester City squad and haven't offered much towards the city squad while the signing of Robin Van Persie in the summer was that of sheer brilliance from Sir Alex Ferguson compared to what Mancini dipped into in the summer with his poor signings who offered little towards the campaign overall.

Improvement of the United Squad

Overall throughout this season other than the signing of Robin Van Persie there has been a massive improvement and maturity in some of the players in the squad for example Rafeal has had a fantastic season and has been one of uniteds player of the year without a doubt his performances at rb have been immense he has shown incredible ability and has scored some cracking goals for us. Along with Rafeal we have seen the forever consistent performance of Michael Carrick finally been recognized outside of united as his forever consistent performances for united have get us going both defensivley and attacking through his own moments of quality eg that fantastic pass to Javier Hernadez to score the winner was incredible and just one of the amazing things that Carrick has done for us this season.
Drama of Last Season

An obvious impact was the drama from last season and the way in which Manchester City won the title by beating QPR in the last seconds of the game to win the title. As a player at Manchester United this would have prepared the players psychologically and to make sure that they were never in that situation again and im sure fergie would have made sure that this was on there mind and made sure that they would never forget what happened last season and make sure that it was to never happen again.
