Why Manchester United will win the Premier League this term...

Manchester United lifting
their 19th PL title in 2011
Manchester United - we are the record holders for English League titles – with 19 to our name. We famously dethroned Liverpool two seasons back, who now have 18 titles. United have dominated the Premier League era and this season is no different.

Current Status (4/2)
The Premier League is way past the half way point with 25 matches already played. Manchester United are on 62 points, City are 9 points behind and Chelsea a further 7 points adrift. With only 13 matches being left, we can safely say that now, Manchester United and Manchester City are the only teams left in the title race. I think this season, it will be the Red side of Manchester celebrating Premier League success – and here’s why:
  1.   Four excellent forwards

van Persie, Welbeck, Rooney,
 Hernandez
This season United have scored 60 goals in the PL so far – 9 more than the 2nd highest goalscorers, Chelsea. It is fair to say, that its only because of our attack that we have won some of the games this season. The defence has been shaky and has been leaking goals.

But with world class forwards like Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney, we also have an excellent poacher in Chicharito as well as a young Danny Welbeck to lead the lines. Apart from the four forwards, the whole United squad has shown affinity for scoring goals with a total of 16 different goal scorers in the squad. Defenders Patrice Evra and Johnny Evans have scored 4 and 3 goals in the PL respectively.

So, we can hardly be surprised with the fact that Sir Alex’s side have come out firing on all cylinders and are leading the ‘Goals Scored’ column of the league table!
  1. 2. Return of Vidic and an injury free defence

Nemanja Vidic has back
As said above, our defence has been shambolic so far. We’ve conceded too many goals – 31 so far, only West Brom have conceded more from the Top 10 teams – and this has been a constant source of worry. Everytime the opposing team attacked, it looked like they would score.

But, we have to consider that we did have a few injury problems at the beginning of the season when Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Nemanja Vidic were all sidelined with various injuries. Rafael also had a brief spell out but he, along with Jones, Smalling & Vidic are fully fit now.

The return of Vidic, will especially be a major relief to the team. He is the captain and a world class defender. His influence on the team as a leader was missed and its great to see him back. Jones and Smalling – along with Evans - are the future of United’s defence. They all have great potential and will no doubt, be great for the team.

In addition, the return to form of Evra has been good for the club, and so has the coming of age of Rafael. He has been marvellous this season, and has made the RB slot his own. The maturity and promise that he and Evans are showing, indicate great things for United for years to come.
  1. 3.       History

SAF's famous Class of '92
They've won anything
History has shown that Manchester United normally have a strong end to the season. We have a slow start to the season but gain momentum towards the end of the season – during the title run-in. From what we’ve seen thus far from Sir Alex’s previous sides, its safe to assume that Manchester United, who have had a strong season thus far, are on course for an even stronger finish to the season.

Also, United has quite a few (many!) experienced players like Giggs, Scholes, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Rooney etc. who’ve all been in such position before. Also, with Sir Alex’s experience, our team has plenty of experience of being in winning positions. We also have the mentality and expertise to go with the experience to take us through the title run-in successfully.
  1. 4.       Improved Wingers (Hopefully!)

Young and Valencia
This season, United wingers, especially last season’s hero, Valencia, has been out of form. Nani has been uninspiring thus far while Young although a lil better, is now injured. Nani, since his return has looked lively. Especially in the last match, he created all sorts of problems for the Fulham defence. Also, as an CAM, Kagawa after a good few games at the start of the season, hasn’t really impressed. They are sure to improve. This will only help United’s attack even more by providing RvP, Rooney and Chicha with great crosses to finish off.

Based on the above factors, I think ManUtd look poised to win the title again this term to make this our 20th English League title winning season!

 Thanks for the read!
